Day 1: Kanyakumari
On arrival at Thiruvananthapuram airport/railway station transfer to the hotel in Kanyakumari, refresh & Relax. (80 Km. 2 Hours drive). In the afternoon take the ferry boat to visit Vivekananda Meditation hall & confluence of 3 oceans (Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal & Arabian Sea). The city is at the southernmost tip of India is especially popular for its spectacular and unique sunrise & sunset. On pleasant full moon evenings, you can see the moon-rise and sunset at the same time. The nature of the sand in the beaches of Kanyakumari is also unique as it is multicolored. Overnight stay at Kanyakumari.
Day 2 & 3: Kovalam
After breakfast you will be Transferred to Kovalam Beach (2 hours drive). On the way visit Padmanabhapuram Wooden Palace, Poovar Golden Sands Beach & a short Backwater Cruiser. Check in to the hotel on reaching Kovalam & enjoy the beautiful Crescent shaped beaches. There are three such beaches and a massive rocky promontory on the beach, has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for Swimming, Snorkeling & Surfing…. The shore is lined with plenty of restaurants offering all kinds of sea food available locally. Rock in the shallow waters of Crescent Beaches, and in the evenings have seafood dinners by choosing the fish of your taste. Overnight stay here.
Day 3: City Sightseeing in the afternoon. Back to the beach & overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4 & 5: Varkala Beach.
After breakfast proceed to Varkala by visiting Shanghumugham Beach & Veli Tourist village. Veli Lake meets the Arabian Sea, offers boating facilities, Speed boats, Pedal boats and paddleboats can be hired. On reaching Varkala check in to hotel. Free & leisure. Varkala, a calm and quiet hamlet, lies in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram. Beautiful beach, a 2000 year old Vishnu temple and Sivagiri Mutt are some of the attractions.
Day 6 & 7: Houseboat Cruise (Kollam to Kumarakom via Alappuzha for 2 nights & 3 Days) After breakfast proceed to Kollam (35 K.ms, 60 minutes drive) board on to houseboat & sail to Kumarakom via Alappuzha. Enjoy picturesque canals, duck farming, lakes & lagoons, toddy tapping and village people making coir & much more to make your journey the most memorable which includes traditional Kerala meals onboard. Kollam to Kumarakom via Alappuzha by road is 132 K.ms, 3 hours drive. Stay in peace for 2 days, completely away from the clamor of outside world.
Day 8: Periyar Wild life Sanctuary (Thekkady 1000-1900 Meters above sea level)
After Breakfast proceed to Thekkady (118 Km from Kumarakom) a scenic journey to Thekkady by enjoying green mountains, spice plantations and open grasslands….. On arrival check into hotel, refresh yourself & go for sightseeing. Evening boating to see animals at their own habitat, back to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 9: Munnar
If you didn’t see animals yesterday evening, go for a morning boat cruise today, definitely are waiting there to say good morning to you. Back to the hotel & have breakfast. Then if interested try an Elephant ride & some spices shopping have a scenic drive of 90 K.ms to Munnar (3 hours) by passing mist capped mountains, spice plantations and open grasslands lined with Spectacular waterfalls
Day 10 & 11: Cherai Beach (65 Km, 2 hours drive)
After breakfast have a city sightseeing drive to Cherai Beach of Vypin Island. The sea on the Western side and the backwaters on the East give this upcoming tourist destination uniqueness which can be seen only in Kerala. Check in to the resort & enjoy the 10 Km long Golden Beach which is called “The Princess of the Arabian sea” will entice you with its exotic charm, serene backwaters, swaying coconut lagoons, lush green paddy fields, and Chinese fishing nets on the waterfront are another added attraction. The beach is shallow, calm and is ideal for swimming & sunbathing.
Day 11: Fort Kochi
After breakfast an interesting trip to Fort Kochi which is also known as “Old Kochi”. An obscure fishing village that became the first European township in India, Mr. Nicolas Conti, an Italian traveler of the Middle Ages remarked: “If China is where you make your money, then Kochi surely is the place to spend it”. The town was shaped by the Portuguese, the Dutch and later the British. The results of these cultural influences exists still here, feel that history is living not in books.
A leisurely stroll through its streets is one of the best ways to discover all that this city has to offer – each and every nook of this island is steeped in history. The towering ancient Rain Trees, the white-washed walls laden with crimson bougainvilleas, the musty old spice warehouses, unused yards smothered in vegetation, the Dutch palace with Kerala murals, Chinese fishing nets, Jewish synagogues, Jain temple, Portuguese churches & British clubs, history is seeping through every brick and stone here !
In the evening–enjoy Kathakali – the exotic and universally popular performing art of Kerala. ‘Mudra & Make-up’ demonstration follows the performance. The two hours pass too soon. Back to hotel after visiting any of the “you buy I cook” shop of fort Kochi.
Day 12: Departure transfer to Kochi Airport/Railway Station
