Duration: 8 nights & 9 days
Day 1 & 2: Kochi (5 hours drive from Thiruvananthapura)
Tour starts from Thiruvananthapura. A 5 hours drive will take you to Kochi called the ”Queen of Arabian Sea”. On reaching Kochi check in to the pre-booked hotel. Get refreshed and relax. After lunch and a short nap we take you to Fort Kochi for a walking Tour.
Fort Kochi: An obscure fishing village that became the first European township in India. The town was shaped by the Portuguese, the Dutch and later the British. The results of these cultural influences are seen in the many examples of Indo European architecture that still exist here.A leisurely stroll through its streets is one of the best ways to discover all that this city has to offer. A boat ride across the breathtaking blue lagoons and backwaters offers a glimpse of Kochi’s rural life and its inherent beauty.
In the evening–enjoy Kathakali – the exotic and universally popular performing art of Kerala. ‘Mudra & Make-up’ demonstration follows the performance. The two hours pass too soon.
Day 2: Day tour to Veegaland Water Theme Park
This is a whole day programme suitable for kids and adults alike.To pass time there are plenty of Kids rides, Water rides, Dry rides & High thrill rides. Kids rides includes Mini Pirate Ship, Merry Ghost, Kiddies Wheel, Mini Express, Moon Walker, Jumping Frog, Flying Jumpo, Lion Swing, Funky Monkey, Carousel, Convoy etc. Evening back to hotel.
Mini Pirate Ship: This is a miniature version of the pirate ship and is meant exclusively for toddlers, who can be seated safely harnessed while the boat swings up and down.
Merry Ghost: This is another colorful merry-go-round for little children under the age of ten, which gently swings up and down as it spins round a brilliantly decorated spindly.
Kiddies Whee: This is a miniature giant wheel specially designed for little kids, which provides them with all the thrills of the larger version, without being as scary.
Mini Express: This is a tiny, colorful toy for little kids that takes them frolicking round the circuit in a absolute merriment.
Moon Walker: This is wavy slide where little children can slither down there or four abreast. The sides of the slide are padded making it safe even for toddler.
Jumping Frog: This is a merry-go-round specially designed for little children who are seated in capsules that resemble frogs. As the merry-go-round spins, the frogs leap gently into the air, giving the children a fairy-tale ride.
Flying Jumbo: This is a wavy merry-go-around where participants seated like mahouts on fling elephants spin in a circle while also moving up and down vertically. This is a ride suitable for all the age groups.
Funky Monkey: Funky Monkey is a kiddies’ version of Drop Zone specially designed for children in the age group of 6-12. The ride takes them to a maximum height of five meters, giving them a miniature experience of the free-fall.
Day 3 & 4: Munnar
Today after an early breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to the Majestic Waterfalls of Kerala called Athirappally. You may spend couple of hours here and drive to Munnar.
Athiraally Waterfalls: The Chalakudy River bursting forth from the jungles of Sholayar, comes crashing down, plummeting 80 feet to form the dramatic Athirappilly Falls – the waterfalls as spirited and noisy as the forests are dark and silent. The cool spray that covers a large area near the falls makes this area a scenic location. Many eminent film directors used this location for their movies. Overnight stay at Athirappilly.
Munnar, the Royal Hill Station of Kerala is blessed with plenty of attractions. Some are detailed below. Discuss with our driver about your interest, he is well aware of the tourist spots in Munnar and will give you information required.
The Mattupetty lake and dam is a very beautiful picnic spot. The sprawling Kundala tea plantations and the Kundala lake are other attractions in the vicinity. Boating facilities like Speed Launch and slow speed motor boats are available on hire.
Kundala Lake is an artificial reservoir of a minor arch shaped dam huddled between the mountain ranges. It is about a 20 km drive from Munnar. Boating facilities available here.
Pothamedu: Pothamedu offers an excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in Munnar. The rolling hills, the lush mountain and the breathtaking scenery here is ideal for trekking and long mountain walks.
This is 1880 meters above sea level & is about 40 km from Munnar. The panoramic view of the Western Ghats and the valley of Theni from Top station is simply breathtaking.
Echo Point: Echo Point is about 15 km from Munnar. Go there and scream as loud as you can, and wait for a while. You can hear your echo back!
This idyllic hill station with its velvet lawns, exotic flora and fauna and the cool mountain air is a rare experience. The Sita Devi Lake with its mineral waters and picturesque surroundings is a good picnic spot. The lake is also ideal for trout fishing.
Chithirapuram: With its sleepy little cottages, bungalows, old playgrounds and courts, Chithirapuram still exudes an old world charm. Home of the Pallivasal Hydel Power Project, this hill town is also famous for its picturesque tea plantations.
Attukal: A panorama of waterfalls and rolling hills, Attukal, located between Munnar and Pallivasal, is a feast for the eyes. The place is also ideal for long treks.
Nyayamakad: Located between Munnar and Rajamala, Nyayamakad is a land of breathtaking waterfalls. The waters cascade down a hill from a height of about 1600 meters. The enchanting surroundings makes an excellent picnic spot and trekking point.
Rajamalai (Part of Eravikulam National Park):
Rajamalai is located at about 15 k.ms from Munnar. This region is the natural habitat of the Nilgiri Tahr (Hemitragas hylocres). It was converted to a national park to provide a safe sanctuary for the endangered species of Nilgiri Tahr. The natural habitat of the Niligiri tahr ,Rajamala is 2695 Mts above sea level. Half the world’s population of the rare mountain goat or tahr a species becoming extinct is now found here.The total number of Niligiri Tahrs in Rajamala is estimated to be over 1300.
This tea museum is first of its kind in India. The aim of this museum according to its founders is to showcase the growth of more-than-a-century-old tea plantations in this region. Anyone visiting this museum will get a clear picture of how backbreaking is tea processing really.
Sandalwood forest Marayur:
Marayoor is located at around 42 k.ms north of Munna. And is famous for the natural sandalwood forest. Not only that, this place is said to be part of the ancient stone age civilization dated back to 10,000 B.C. Stone age paintings, rock edicts and dolmens found there vouch for this rich heritage.
Lakkom Water Falls:
This waterfall is about 25 k.ms from Munnar. Lakkom waterfalls are part of Eravikulam National Park.
Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary:
Chinnar wildlife sanctuary is about 60 k.ms from Munnar. It is an ideal spot for trekking and enjoying wildlife closely. It is the habitat for endangered grizzled giant squirrel in India. Almost 34 species of mammals including panthers, spotted deer, elephants, tigers can be found here. It is also a bird watchers paradise. 245 species of birds live here!
Day 5 & 6: Thekkady (100 Km from Munnar, 4 hours drive, 1000-1900 Meters above sea level)
After your breakfast check out and enjoy a scenic drive to Thekkady where you can visit Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Enjoy wayside attractions such as quite villages, Well trimmed spices Tea & spices plantations, tiny waterfalls and misty mountains. Check in to the hotel on reaching Thekkady. Get refreshed, relax & go for local sightseeing in the afternoon.
Periyar: Thekkady is a dream destination which spread over an area of 777 Sq.Kms, surrounded by an artificial lake over an area of 25 Sq.Kms Thekkady. Thekkady is a pleasant heaven on earth for those who love nature in its wild manifestations.
Day 6: Bamboo rafting
A dawn to dusk range hiking and rafting programme through some of the richest forest tracts of Periyar Tiger Reserve. Starts at 8 am. Keep your eyes and ears open to take in some of the beautiful visuals and captivating sounds. Butterflies with fascinating wing patterns, flowers with dazzling hues, wild animals like elephants, bison, gaur, sambar… all are here by the banks to welcome you. Rafting team will be accompanied by an armed guard & 4 guides. Evening back to the hotel & relax.
Day 7: Kumarakom ( 120 Kms, 4 hours drive)
On Day 7th you are driving down to the melodious backwater village called Kumaram. It is a cluster of tiny islands with below sea level paddy fields, coconut plantations, Chinese fishing nets etc etc.. Check in to your hotel, relax and enjoy a short canal cruise to explore the beauty of Kumarakom with your limited time.
Day 8: Houseboat Cruise
Today after enjoying a Kerala breakfast you drive to Alappuzha (40 K.ms from Kumarakom, 1 hours’ drive) for an enchanting backwater cruise & overnight stay in a traditionally decorated houseboat with modern facilities. Cruise offers an inspiring and interesting experience. Enjoy the sights of vast stretches of paddy fields, coconut lagoons and pied King Fishers hurtling down to catch the fish. You would also come across small islands, locals engaged in fishing activities on country boats, children being ferried to schools, the majestic rice barges, gliding over the canals. Another interesting sight is that of large flocks of ducks being shepherded to newly-harvested paddy fields. Enjoy your precious times totally away from the hustle & bustle of outside world.
Day 9: Departure Transfer
Today morning after a Kerala’s traditional delicious breakfast disembark from the houseboat and drive towards Thiruvananthapuram or your desired destination.
