The main period for the visit is during the summer months of May, June, and July. Mata Vaishno Devi is known to fulfil all the desires of the devotees, no one goes back empty handed after they have been blessed by the darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi. Miracles are granted to those who are strong-minded to make it to the cave of the Goddess. It is said and believed that individuals can take up the holy yatra of Mata Vaishno Devi when Mata calls upon their visit.
Festival: Navratri Festival is celebrated every year (October) in Katra, the base camp of Sri Mata Vaishno Devi. On this auspicious occasion entire Katra town is decorated tastefully and people from the region participate in large numbers. On the first day, after the prayers are offered to Goddess Mata Vaishno Devi, flowers are showered from a helicopter (at times) to mark the beginning of the celebrations.
